Surgical Area Discomfort
After any operation when there is an incision, nerves that affect the skin are cut and tissues are stretched, which can cause some discomfort in the parotid or jaw area after surgery. This discomfort is normal and slowly improves over time. The discomfort can last for several weeks or months. In addition, some patients may feel throat discomfort, hoarseness, and mild swallowing pain for a few days after surgery due to pressure from the use of an endotracheal tube for general anesthesia.
