Recovery after Deep Lobe Parotidectomy

The recovery from the removal of a tumor from the deep lobe of the parotid gland generally takes longer and may produce more side effects.

Deep lobe tumor removal requires more movement of the facial nerve, which generally leads to weakness of the facial muscles. It is important to remember that the weakness is temporary and should recover over time. It can take several weeks for the weakness to start to get better.
